(a) Using 80MBq 99mTc pertechnetate and (b) using 20MBq 123I sodium iodide. The typical mix of areas of reduced uptake and normal uptake is seen corresponding to the palpable nodules. The incidence of cancer in such a thyroid is low. However, a dominant non-functional nodule should be evaluated as a solitary ΓÇÿcoldΓÇÖ nodule.
